Direct Care Professional PRN - Supervised Independent Living
About The Position
Boys & Girls Haven is seeking a Direct Care Professional to work within our Independent Living Program. This position supports young adults as they develop the practical skills, confidence, and self-sufficiency needed to successfully transition into adulthood. The role involves coaching clients in various life skills, supporting their educational and employment goals, assisting with community resources, and providing guidance and accountability to promote independence. Responsibilities also include participating in treatment team meetings, facilitating skill-building activities, responding to emergencies, transporting clients, completing documentation, and ensuring apartment safety and maintenance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certification in SCM, CPR, and First Aid, or ability to obtain upon hire
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- Must be at least 21 years of age
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field preferred
- Experience working with at-risk adolescents or young adults preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Responsibilities
- Coach clients in budgeting, money management, meal planning, housekeeping, laundry, and time management
- Support educational, employment, and vocational goals
- Assist clients in accessing community resources and services
- Provide guidance, accountability, and supervision while promoting increasing independence
- Participate in treatment team meetings and support individual goals
- Facilitate individual and group skill-building activities
- Respond to emergencies and crisis situations appropriately
- Utilize Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques as required
- Transport clients to work, school, appointments, and approved activities
- Complete documentation related to client progress, incidents, and program activities
- Support apartment safety, cleanliness, and maintenance expectations
