About The Position

Empowered Services provides individualized, one-on-one support in home and community settings for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) deliver dependable, person-centered care that promotes independence, supports emotional regulation, and encourages meaningful daily routines. We are hiring a DSP / Caregiver to support an adult in a calm, low-demand environment with a balance of independent time and community outings. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, observant, and comfortable providing support without constant engagement - knowing when to step in and when to give space. The individual enjoys walking in stores and visiting parks, likes music, pacing, and sensory regulation activities (fidgets), and values personal space and quiet time, especially in his room. They benefit from a low-pressure environment with natural transitions between rest and activity and have improved significantly in emotional regulation over the past year. The individual may become frustrated when unable to access preferred activities. Occasional physical behaviors (historically)—though reduced—mean situational awareness is important, and a steady, confident presence is key. Providers should be comfortable supporting someone who self-regulates through movement (walking/pacing).
