POSITION PURPOSE: Assists the CNO in monitoring and assessing facility-wide patient nursing care for adults (ages 18+), adolescents (ages 12-18), and children (ages 4-12), and ensures that clinical nursing practice is based on established standards of care and nursing and hospital policies and procedures, and ensures the highest possible quality of patient care. Also provides assistance to the CNO with direct supervision for all nursing service personnel.

Requirements

  • SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of all appropriate nursing and hospital administrative policies and procedures, applicable stat laws and all applicable standards. Demonstrates strong leadership skills and organizational ability. Demonstrate superior communication skill and is flexible to changing situations. Maintains awareness of professional image and demonstrates knowledge of principles of organizational, hospital and fiscal management.
  • EDUCATION: Must have BSN; MSN preferred.
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current Texas RN license in State of Texas.
  • EXPERIENCE: Must have three (3) years experience in psychiatric nursing and administrative/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing leadership and direction to Registered Nurses, LVNs, and Mental Health Workers.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintaining a philosophy, goals, and objectives for the nursing department, which are compatible with professional nursing practice and philosophy and purpose of the hospital.
  • Assist the CNO with administrative support to unit Nurse Mgr and Nursing Supv.
  • Assist the CNO with the developing and administration of the annual budget for the hospital with help from CEO & CFO.
  • Assist the CNO with the establishment and maintaining the standards of care.
  • Assist the CNO in the planning and coordination staff development.
  • Assist the CNO with the responsibility for staffing all nursing service units.
  • Assist the CNO with the responsibility for hiring, terminating and discrepancy actions for all Nursing Service personnel under their direct control.
  • Assist the CNO with the Interpretation and implementation administrative P&P.
  • Assist the CNO with attendance to hospital meetings and committees as required or requested.
  • Assist the CNO with the performance and/or reviews Nursing Staff evaluation.
  • Promotes harmonious relationships with all staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.
