About The Position

Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, and the CD population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well. Wellstone is currently searching for an experienced Business Office Director. The Business Office Director will manage and direct the activities of the business office (billing, collection, financial counseling and data processing) staff. Implement policies and procedures toward productive functioning of the department. Implement and monitor performance goals and objectives. Ensure accurate capturing and posting of financial activity. Maintain Accounts Receivable at amounts appropriate for market, payor, and acuity mix.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, Assosciate's Degree high preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years direct experience in a healthcare setting; five (5 ) years preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Professional, exercises good judgement;
  • Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and other software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, supervises, and trains all Business Office staff. Maintains appropriate staffing in department and provides for employee selection and orientation
  • Manages an effective charge capturing system, payment and adjustment posting, billing and collection program that leads towards achievement of goals.
  • Ensures receivables are properly valued as to third party and self-pay liability as well as contractual and non-contractual requirements
  • Recommends refunds, adjustments, charity care, and bad debts and submits paperwork to CFO and CEO for approval.
  • Ensures that paperwork is maintained on Administrative Adjustments, uncompensated care, bad debt write-offs, refunds, denials, certifications, and financial arrangements.
  • Reviews admission and financial counseling areas to assure insurance verification, advance payment, financial counseling, and payment arrangements are at or above standards.
  • Ensures that appropriate collection agency/attorney resources are utilized, monitored, and periodically evaluated.
  • Completes and timely submits all required reports (i.e. cash goal, AR analysis, Medicare Credit Balance).
  • Supervise BO staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
