Requirements

  • Six months experience in healthcare food service or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling and distributing meals to residents/patients and visitors according to resident/patient selections and following proper safety and sanitation practices.
  • Washing pots, and performing related kitchen duties.
  • Previewing menus and work orders to determine the type of food and supplies required for assigned tray line station, to include starter station, hot food, beverage, special food and dessert.
  • Preparing station items such as beverages and wrapped rolls.
  • Stocking and preparing station for upcoming service.
  • Reading meal tickets and using proper utensils to place correct station item on tray according to plan for plating presentation, portion size, quality, temperature and appearance of food.
  • Requesting steam table replenishment from Cook.
  • Ensuring that food items are maintained at appropriate temperatures.
  • Wrapping, labeling, dating and properly storing all food ingredients according to safe food handling techniques and practices at the end of service period.
  • Maintaining clean and organized food service areas using "clean as you go" method.
  • Wiping down work areas daily including steam table, tray line, counters, carts, trucks and other areas.
  • Washing and sanitizing pots and pans, equipment and utensils.
  • Emptying trash throughout the shift.
  • Delivering trucks with assembled trays to units on schedule.
  • Notifying nursing staff of food arrival.
  • Assisting unit staff with distribution of trays.
  • Retrieving trucks, carts and bussing carts from units.
  • Bussing returned trays, separating out garbage and recyclables.
  • Preparing dishes for dish machine; loading dish machine and starting cycle.
  • Disposing of trash.
  • Unloading clean service ware; storing clean items in proper locations.
  • Coordinating between-meal nourishments.
  • Reading nourishment tickets.
  • Preparing and delivering formula and special nourishments to unit pantries according to schedule.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing floors, walls, hood filters, baseboards and other food preparation, storage and service areas.
  • Maintaining kitchen equipment; reporting malfunctioning equipment; maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
