About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring all dining services protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies. The Dining Service Assistant works in both the dining room and the kitchen, preparing and serving food, controlling serving sizes to prevent waste, and maintaining a high quality of service. This position also involves adhering to sanitation and food handling protocols, safety policies, and maintaining resident confidentiality. The role requires washing pots, pans, dishes, and other equipment, ensuring the dishwasher is operated properly, and checking kitchen utensils for cleanliness. The Dining Service Assistant must also be knowledgeable about menus, appropriate diets, textures, dysphagia diets, and thickened liquids.

  • Able to work shifts as assigned, including every other weekend
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of sanitation, food borne illness, and cross-contamination policies and procedures
  • Full understanding of dining room operational procedures and etiquette
  • Full understanding of proper small wares handling
  • Full understanding of residents’ rights
  • Full understanding of departmental policies and procedures
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to manually lift 10-15 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Properly greeting all residents, guests, and staff
  • Adherence to all sanitation and food handling protocols
  • Adherence to all safety policies and procedures
  • Maintenance of confidentiality of all pertinent resident information
  • Assuring that all dining services protocols and procedures are followed
  • Works both in the dining room and in the kitchen
  • Prepares and/or serves food for campus special occasions
  • Controls serving size to prevent/eliminate waste and leftovers
  • Attendance and participation in in-service training programs
  • Reporting of all hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Reporting of all accidents or incidents
  • Maintain quality level of service
  • Read Menu’s for appropriate Diets and Textures
  • Have knowledge of Dysphasia diets
  • Have knowledge on thickened liquids
  • Attend meetings as necessary
  • Works scheduled hours complying with attendance policies
  • Responsible for washing pots, pans, dishes, and other equipment
  • Ensuring the dishwasher is ran properly
  • Checking all kitchen cooking utensils and devices to ensure they are thoroughly cleaned
  • Follows facility dress code requirements
  • To perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by lead cook and management
