About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Dining Hall Manager for a seasonal summer camp position. This role involves providing leadership and guidance to 4 to 8 minors employed at the camp, assisting them with daily duties in maintenance, the dining hall, and program areas. The manager will also lead daily Bible studies and discipleship, challenging the minors in their spiritual growth. Responsibilities include developing and implementing activities and events, ensuring safety and appropriate supervision, and training/developing each individual to foster a positive camping experience in harmony with Camp Del Oro's goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Supervision of kitchen staff/49ers during Family Style Meals.
  • Delegation of tasks and duties during Family Style Meals.
  • Disinfection of tabletops prior to each meal and wiping chairs.
  • Setting tables neatly and correctly.
  • Efficient and courteous serving of meals.
  • Serving nightly snacks for campers and cleaning up the area afterwards.
  • Stocking, washing, and storing dishes, scrubbing pots and pans.
  • Sweeping kitchen floor after every meal.
  • Taking garbage outside for pick-up.
  • Sweeping and mopping the entire floor after the evening meal.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen and dining areas.
  • Maintaining neat and clean clothing and aprons.
  • Prompt reporting to the dining area at the assigned time.
  • Not entering the kitchen area; requesting items from kitchen staff.
  • Supporting all camp policies regarding health and safety of campers.
  • Maintaining the Beverage Serving Area.
  • Thorough cleaning of coffee machines.
  • Instructing 49ers in proper table set-up for mealtimes.
  • Ensuring dining hall bathrooms are cleaned daily and re-stocking paper products and soap.
  • Ensuring all windows in the dining hall complex are cleaned weekly or as needed.
  • Cleaning windowsills.
  • Alerting the Camp Director of any equipment repairs needed in the Dining Hall.
  • Taking meal counts for the USDA Summer Food Service Program each meal and snack time.
  • Providing 49er staff guidance and training for dish room and dining hall clean up.
  • Ensuring clean up pans with sponges, spatulas, and trash bags are ready for each table at each meal.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all dishwashing areas.
  • Ensuring kitchen floor is swept after each meal.
  • Assisting the cook in duties as requested to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation.
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and ordering replacement supplies through the Office manager or Head Cook.
  • Cleaning and maintaining all Bathhouses and restrooms throughout camp.
  • Delegating and scheduling 49er staff to ensure camp restrooms are clean and sanitary at all times.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking all bathrooms daily.
  • Sweeping outside porches and walkways daily.
  • Washing porches and walkways as needed.
  • Emptying trash containers daily.
  • Keeping grounds in order.
  • Laying evening campfire.
  • Sweeping and cleaning amphitheater in preparation for evening programs.
  • Attending and participating in evening programs and spiritual day activities.
  • Maintaining a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assisting with the clean up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and implement a creative daily devotion for the leadership program.
  • Assist peer leaders in planning devotions for their weekly devotions.
  • Plan and provide for break day activities of leadership staff.
  • Schedule a daily planning and prep period.
  • Ensure that the unit is supervised at all times in accordance with Camp Del Oro policies.
  • Prepare and implement weekly schedule.
  • Lead discussion and Bible study groups.
  • Assist the Program Director as needed.
  • Conduct weekly evaluations of each leadership participant.
  • Complete and submit to the Program Director an "End of Summer Brief" with recommendations for the future.
  • Supervise kitchen staff/49ers during Family Style Meals.
  • Delegate tasks and duties during all Family Style Meals.
  • Disinfect tabletops prior to each meal and wipe chairs.
  • Set tables - neatly and correctly.
  • Serve meals efficiently and courteously.
