The Dimension Control Technician performs complex technical work supporting Accuracy Control, construction validation, and process improvement throughout hull construction. The role lays out, fabricates, and assembles standard and nonstandard jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling that require precise coordination of tooling holes and reference points across multiple planes and complex contours. The technician plans work and determines methods and operational sequences from tooling drawings or original designs; develops holding devices and jig and fixture details; and prepares sequences and shop drawings for fabrication and assembly by others. The position performs measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total stations, laser trackers, and other electronic 3-D instruments, and uses CAD graphical user interface software for design. It also operates optical instruments to check assembly alignment, fit, and adjustment, and may monitor and verify quality using statistical process controls or other QA methods. The role frequently acts as a lead worker and technical resource, applying advanced knowledge and independent judgment to complex dimensional control and construction problems. It provides guidance to technicians, craft, and project teams; coordinates work assignments and schedules; develops and reviews construction validation documentation; and communicates with internal and external stakeholders. This is a full-time, first-shift position at Ingalls Shipbuilding, with no telework eligibility, no relocation assistance, and travel of 10%–25%. U.S. citizenship is required.
