The Dimension Control Technician lays out, fabricates, and assembles standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling. The work may involve compound angles and complex contours and requires establishing and coordinating tooling holes and reference points across several planes to exacting tolerances. The role performs measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total stations, laser trackers, or other electronic 3-D instruments, and uses computer-aided design (CAD) graphic user interface software. The technician plans work and determines methods and sequences of operations using tool design drawings or original designs. The position also sets up and operates optical instruments to check alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies; develops holding devices and jig and fixture details; and prepares operational sequences and shop drawings for fabrication and assembly by others. The technician may monitor and verify quality using statistical process or other control procedures.
