About The Position

The Role Lays out, fabricates, and assembles a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling involving compound angles and complex contours where the establishment and coordination to exacting tolerances of numerous tooling holes and reference points between several planes are required. Performs measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total stations, laser trackers or other electronic 3-D instruments. Uses computer aided designs (CAD) graphic user interface software for design. Plans work to be performed and determines methods and sequence of operations working from tool design drawings or own designs. Sets up and operates optical instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies. Develops and designs holding devices and jig and fixture details. Prepares operational sequences and shop drawings covering parts fabrication and assembly to be performed by others. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 7 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 5 years of related experience
  • May require certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive understanding of status files, budgeting processes, and the evaluation of budget performance against completed and planned statements of work.
  • More than 10 years of experience in Accuracy Control, including dimensional control, measurement systems, and compliance verification.
  • Hands on hull shipfitting experience with strong knowledge of ship construction, structural components, and production workflows.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Strong understanding of Build, Integrate, and Dimensional Surveying processes.
  • Knowledge of the IPDAR database and Accuracy Control Work Packages/DCCG's
