About The Position

Under the direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Digital Video Production Teacher plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students in the discipline of Audio-Visual career-centric instruction. Candidates must be willing to provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials in accordance with an approved curriculum to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
  • In accordance with Rhode Island’s Right to Read Act, all educators must demonstrate awareness of and/or proficiency in the Science of Reading.
  • All qualified candidates will have completed an approved Right to Read training program or possess current certification of proficiency or awareness (out-of-state teachers may be granted one year from their date of hire to complete the required training).
  • Awareness Certification requries 10-hours of training, which can be completed online, and free-of-charge on BRIDGE-RI.
  • For positions requiring Proficiency, more intensive coursework is required.
  • Educators can achieve this by completing state-approved certificate/degree programs (e.g., reading specialist certification or a related Master's degree).
  • Upon successful completion of approved proficiency training, educators can apply for a free Literacy/Dyslexia Endorsement to add to their teaching certificate.
  • RIDE Secondary Grades Career and Technical Education Teacher, Grades 6-12 - Audiovisual Communications and Technologist/Technicians-Graphic Communications Technology: Audio/Video
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC-based computer applications, Google Suite, Microsoft Office applications, email, Web applications, and industry-specific technology.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check in accordance with RIGL 16-2-18

Responsibilities

  • Creates a rigorous classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Participates in and implements district and school-based professional development activities.
  • Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction that incorporates appropriate modeling and provides students with opportunities to learn, observe, question, and investigate in alignment with appropriate national, state and local standards.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as workshop model, stations, discussions and demonstrations.
  • Differentiates instruction to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  • Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Develops and maintains positive and cooperative interactions and communications with parents, colleagues and community.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress using data and adjusts instruction accordingly.
  • Makes recommendations about and adheres to appropriate accommodations for all types of formal assessments.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a positive learning environment in the classroom.
  • Adheres to the Rhode Island Educator Code of Professional Responsibility.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues at the school and district level to improve teaching, learning and educational programming for students.
  • Ability and willingness to work in teams and co-taught settings.
  • Performs other duties as designated by the building principal or designee.
  • Is accessible to students for academic support beyond the classroom.
