Digital Systems Engineer

INFINITY SYSTEMS ENGINEERING•Colorado Springs, CO

About The Position

Infinity is seeking a Systems Engineer for its Digital Engineering Solutions (DES) product team to support the development and analysis of space system architectures. The role applies Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and analytical modeling techniques to characterize complex space systems, evaluate system behavior and performance, and support architecture and mission-level analysis. It combines SysML-based systems modeling with software development in C++, MATLAB, or Python and an understanding of space system architectures. The position may be filled at the Junior (IC1), Associate (IC2), or Staff (IC3) level based on experience and demonstrated technical capability. The role is full-time, typically working 40 hours per week, with overtime potentially required depending on operational needs. Some travel is necessary to provide engineering support or meet with customers. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. The position requires the ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods. Infinity describes its culture as focused on employee support, personal satisfaction, and career development. Benefits include company-paid medical and dental premiums for employees and their families, a 401(k) company contribution, vacation and sick leave, flexible spending options, work-life flexibility, education reimbursement, and an annual profit-sharing payout for eligible employees.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred; a combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2–5 years of experience in systems engineering and/or modeling and simulation.
  • Eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Experience developing or working with MBSE and SysML models for complex systems.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of aerospace, space, or other complex engineered systems.
  • Software development or engineering analysis experience using C++, MATLAB, and/or Python.
  • Understanding of space system architectures, including relationships between space, ground, communications, mission, and supporting system elements.
  • Ability to translate engineering concepts, requirements, and architectures into structured system models or analytical implementations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
  • Some travel is necessary to provide engineering support or meet with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing space mission or system performance data.
  • Experience in system- and subsystem-level requirements derivation, interface definition, architecture development, integration, or verification for space or ground systems.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience developing and coding system models, algorithms, or test and evaluation tools.
  • Experience integrating descriptive system models with simulations, analysis tools, or software-based engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with space mission design, satellite systems, ground systems, or space communications architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing, oral presentations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government, DoD, or other national security space programs.
  • Experience with agile or iterative development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain MBSE/SysML models representing space system architectures, interfaces, behaviors, and requirements.
  • Develop C++, MATLAB, and/or Python software to support system modeling, simulation, analysis, and engineering workflows.
  • Translate space mission concepts and system requirements into executable or descriptive models for engineering analysis and decision-making.
  • Contribute to modeling and simulation activities used to evaluate system behavior, performance, interfaces, and architecture alternatives.
  • Analyze space mission and system data to characterize performance and inform architecture and engineering decisions.
  • Integrate MBSE models with analytical models, simulations, and other digital engineering artifacts.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and mission engineers to maintain consistency between system architecture, analytical models, and implementation.
  • Support technical reviews, trade studies, engineering analyses, and customer deliverables.
  • Communicate technical results and recommendations to engineering teams and Government stakeholders.

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid monthly medical and dental premiums for the employee and their family.
  • 401(k) company contribution and access to professional financial planning advisors.
  • Three weeks of vacation and an annual company reward trip after one year of employment.
  • 48 hours of sick leave in addition to vacation.
  • Flexible spending options for medical and dependent care.
  • Work-life balance and flexibility.
  • Education and professional training reimbursement.
  • Annual profit-sharing payout for eligible employees.
