About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Digital Systems Engineer (Model-Based Systems Engineer) to support its prime SETA program for the NRO Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED) in Chantilly, Virginia. The role advances Digital Engineering and MBSE capabilities across intelligence ground systems, mission operations, and enterprise architecture initiatives. It supports the transition from document-centric systems engineering to a scalable, model-centric digital engineering environment to improve interoperability, requirements traceability, architecture consistency, model reuse, automation, and data-driven decision-making. The engineer will bring expertise in systems engineering, MBSE, enterprise architecture, and engineering automation, along with technical leadership and the ability to deliver mission-focused solutions across complex stakeholder environments. The position provides enterprise leadership for MBSE and digital engineering transformation; develops, integrates, and sustains system, system-of-systems, and enterprise architectures; governs a federated MBSE ecosystem; and advances model-based automation and analytical capabilities. The engineer also advises government and contractor leadership, leads technical reviews and cross-functional collaboration, mentors engineering teams, and delivers architecture products, trade studies, technical assessments, and executive recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM discipline and 14 years of relevant experience; a master's degree and 12 years; or a PhD/JD and 9 years. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience leading MBSE implementation efforts, providing technical direction, and mentoring systems engineers.
  • Experience implementing MBSE and Digital Engineering practices using SysML, enterprise modeling tools, and UAF, DoDAF, or similar architecture frameworks.
  • Experience developing and governing architecture models, requirements traceability, configuration management processes, and authoritative engineering data in collaborative engineering environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise and system-of-systems engineering, including architecture development, CONOPS, requirements engineering, technical baseline management, and cross-organizational integration.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles across the full lifecycle of complex national security, intelligence, defense, or space systems.
  • Technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to senior government and contractor leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and modern engineering, requirements management, and collaboration tools.
  • Experience supporting NRO, IC, NGA, DoD, or other classified space and intelligence programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise leadership for MBSE and digital engineering transformation by establishing strategy, governance, standards, roadmaps, and best practices aligned with NRO mission objectives.
  • Lead development, integration, and sustainment of system, system-of-systems, and enterprise architectures using MBSE, SysML, UAF, and related methodologies.
  • Develop and govern a federated MBSE ecosystem, including reusable architecture frameworks, common data models, modeling standards, configuration management processes, and authoritative engineering data sources.
  • Drive model-based automation and digital engineering innovation using Python, APIs, structured data exchange, AI-enabled capabilities, and integrated tool environments.
  • Integrate MBSE with digital twins, simulation environments, operational mission-thread analysis, and other model-driven approaches to advance analytical and executable engineering capabilities.
  • Advise government and contractor leadership and translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering solutions.
  • Lead technical reviews and cross-functional collaboration, mentor engineering teams, and deliver architecture products, trade studies, technical assessments, and executive recommendations.
