Digital Systems Engineer Level 2/3
About The Position
Northrop Grumman is seeking a hands-on technical Digital Systems Engineer to join their team. The Marine Systems organization is searching for an individual to join the Digital Ecosystem Team / Synergy Department in building digital engineering capabilities for programs within the Marine Systems Division. This position is full-time onsite in Sunnyvale, CA. The successful candidate will support the Digital Ecosystem Team from the ground floor in defining, developing and implementing Digital Engineering capabilities across the functional areas and major programs at Marine Systems. They will support the development of an integrated model-based engineering environment that connects system architecture, requirements, 3D product definition/CAD, analysis models, and engineering/manufacturing data throughout the product lifecycle. They will collaborate across both business and technical functions to support identification of new tools & tool integrations to enable the digital thread. In addition, they will develop the ecosystem architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture, modeling behavioral, structural, and analytical aspects of the solution. They will contribute to ongoing tools and tool integration(s) interface definitions, while applying best practice modeling techniques, procedures, and processes that enable seamless model development, tool integration, and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar STEM related discipline with 2 years relevant experience; or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar STEM related discipline with 0 years relevant work experience (for T2)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar STEM related discipline with 5 years relevant experience; or Master’s Degree in Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar STEM related discipline with 3 years relevant work experience (for T3)
- Demonstrated experience in creating, updating, and maintaining MBSE system and hardware/software architecture and design definition in an MBSE tool such as Cameo
- Experience with system modeling languages, approaches, and methodologies, such as SysML
- Demonstrated experience with requirements and interface management, including utilizing tools such as IBM Rational DOORs, Jama, Polarion (DOORs preferred)
- Familiarity with system drawings and documents such as Interface Control Documents, System/Subsystem Specifications, Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM), etc.
- Familiarity with developing and using model simulations (e.g activity/sequence/state machine simulations, parametric analyses), including use of analytical modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python scripts, etc)
- Familiarity with Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, processes and integrations (e.g Teamcenter, ENOVIA, Windchill)
- Familiarity with configuration management / change management processes and tools
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
Nice To Haves
- Understanding and knowledge of Agile methodologies techniques and activities, including Agile project management tools, Jira preferred
- Familiarity with data architecture, data models, physical database designs, data integration strategy and design for enterprise systems and/or across multiple platforms
- Familiarity with Data Analytics and Data Visualization Tools (e.g Tableau, Power BI) as well as SQL
- Demonstrated experience in program adoption of digital engineering concepts, methods, and processes including digital thread implementation
- Demonstrated experience with Project Lifecycle Management and tools (Teamcenter preferred) during design and development phase. Familiarity with manufacturing and sustainment phases are a plus
- Familiarity with ERP/SAP integration patterns, MES/PLM/ERP data domains, and cross system data harmonization
- Familiarity with managing data and tool integration across classified and disconnected environments
- Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Enterprise and/or Sector standards and tools for data strategy and architecture
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to map data and tool(s) usage requirements
- Understand the current engineering and operational processes, systems and their functions to be able to support the development of the digital ecosystem
- Support the technical and technology assessment initiative to develop and deliver a recommendation for digitizing core business and engineering functions
- Support development of a Digital Ecosystem Architecture roadmap and implementation plan that aligns with business goals and objectives
- Develop the systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical)
- Support implementation of Digital Ecosystem recommendations
- Support the development of data models and metadata standards to facilitate data integration and analysis
