About The Position

Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. Lonza is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer Level 2 to join their team in Portsmouth, NH. This role involves recognizing and solving technical problems under guidance, assisting with plant projects involving computerized infrastructure changes, and providing infrastructure support for various information systems. The position also requires maintaining system integrity, identifying performance and security improvements, and utilizing various resources to solve complex problems. Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support is expected. The role contributes to the design of new applications and solutions, executes test scripts, and manages change requests within the change control system. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will assist the quality department with deviation investigations, participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) as an Operations Information Systems (OIS) representative, and review/revise OIS and manufacturing-related documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience in a related occupation
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Outlook, Word and Excel
Developing technical documentation for networks and information systems
Utilizing servers, storage, network and related infrastructure fundamentals
Utilizing operating systems: Windows and Linux
Utilizing Symantec Ghost, Acronis
Utilizing VB Script, .Net, and SQL
Utilizing Cisco and 3Com network switching and network monitoring utilities
Utilizing Citrix Metaframe or Microsoft Terminal Services

Responsibilities

Recognize potential issues or technical problems and solve these under guidance of supervisor.
Assist with the planning and execution of plant projects involving computerized infrastructure changes in process improvement.
Provide infrastructure support including servers, networks, workstations, storage and client devices for Automation, Business Analytics, Quality Control, and any other information systems used to support operations.
Maintain system integrity and identify performance and security improvements.
Utilize colleagues, system documentation, and support contracts to solve complex problems.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide afterhours support to resolve issues outside of normal business hours.
Contribute to design of new applications and solutions.
Execute test scripts (design, execution, simulation, etc.) with support and guidance from supervisor.
Own change requests and participate in all aspects of the change control system.
Assist the quality department with deviation investigations.
Participate in RCAs as Operations Information Systems (OIS) representative.
Review and revise OIS and manufacturing related, SOP’s, functional specifications, and work instructions, as a result of CAPA, equipment/process changes, error prevention activities, etc.
Develop technical documentation for networks and information systems.
