About The Position

MTSI is seeking a senior Digital Systems/Test Engineer to support the development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise and experience in developing, designing, building, and integrating space hardware and software. This role involves providing System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) at Kirtland AFB, NM. The Space RCO is a streamlined organization focused on rapidly delivering operationally dominant space capabilities to meet U.S. Space Command requirements. This position requires a leader and problem solver who can deliver superior results in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience
  • Experience in digital engineering using digital tools and methods to create, manage, and optimize systems and products
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing system models using MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody)
  • Proficiency with modeling languages such as SysML or UML to capture requirements, architecture, and design
  • Experience with modeling and simulation applications
  • Experience with DoD acquisition to include documentation generation, presentation preparation, and supporting programmatic-focused discussions
  • Understanding of operational environment and corresponding mission user needs
  • Knowledge of space system engineering, development, and manufacturing
  • Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition
  • Experience with integration of varied digital engineering tools
  • Experience with designing and developing system architectures
  • Experience in collaborating across engineering disciplines to architect, design, and implement complex systems
  • Provide expert guidance and support on configuration management best practices to team members ensuring the integrity and security of configuration data
  • Experience in deficiency tracking and resolution
  • Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS)
  • An applicable engineering degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or possess a Professional Engineering license
  • MA/MS/ME degree
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility (no less than 2 years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience, with 1-year total within last 5 years)
  • Willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph
  • Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience with SAP and/or SCI
  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and transition to operations
  • Experience in architecture, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies
  • Experience linking system models to requirements, simulation (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink), and test environments

  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining ground mission planning architecture and software

Responsibilities

  • Assist the government PM in creating, developing, and improving digital engineering systems and tools, taking a lead role in overseeing the entire process from concept to implementation.
  • Configure and evaluate system architecture.
  • Utilize model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies, modeling languages (such as SysML/UML), and simulation tools to assess and refine designs.
  • Lead validation and verification processes and develop testing programs.
  • Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems.
  • Effectively communicate complex results with management and executive leadership.
  • Support design, interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions to complex projects.
  • Lead or support technical programs, projects, or tasks requiring engineering oversight.
  • Ensure completion of programs, projects, or tasks within estimated time frames and budget constraints.
  • Provide input to the government customer concerning risks to performance, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure the quality of program, project, or task deliverables meet or exceed standards or metrics.
  • Assess deliverables to ensure they meet the warfighting purpose.
  • Plan and perform engineering research, design development, and other engineering assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications.
  • Be responsible for the overall technical/engineering portions of major project(s) or program(s).
  • Coordinate with multiple partners/agencies to ensure system engineering communities support delivery milestones.
  • Track and advise on design trades and associated cost, schedule, and technical impacts to requirements.
  • Support design, interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions to complex discipline-specific testing in a digital environment.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy—oral and written.
