About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the Corporate Accounting Department with monthly accounting close activities. The role includes analyzing financial performance of various TV stations, preparing monthly journal entries, processing Accounts Payable for the Digital business, complying with monthly internal SOX controls, and performing other accounting functions that support the monthly close process.

The position also supports financial reporting, account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, external audit schedules, and vendor invoice processing and approvals. It enforces internal controls and corporate accounting policies and procedures, and may take on additional accounting projects assigned by the Sr. Accounting Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly accounting journal entries.
• Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for external auditors.
• Assist with preparation of the Monthly Financial Reporting Package for management review.
• Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare monthly financial analysis.
• Review and/or analyze general ledger accounts.
• Assist with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with accurate and timely data entry of vendor invoices and credits.
• Assist with vendor analysis and coordination of invoice approvals.
• Complete accounting projects as assigned by the Sr. Accounting Manager.
• Enforce internal controls and corporate accounting policies and procedures.
• Support monthly accounting close activities, including Accounts Payable processing for the Digital business and compliance with monthly internal SOX controls.
