Digital Solutions Engineer

REOTEMP INSTRUMENT CORP•San Diego, CA
•$120,000 - $150,000•Onsite

About The Position

Reotemp is hiring a Digital Solutions Engineer to identify and solve business problems by improving the company’s systems and processes. The role works directly with colleagues in sales, customer service, operations, engineering, and finance, as well as spending time on the manufacturing floor to understand how work, information, and decisions move through the company. The engineer will take improvements from understanding the business need through solution design, implementation, production release, and verification of results. Solutions may involve configuring ERP, MRP, or CRM systems; building integrations, automations, or tools; or changing a process. AI is an everyday tool for investigating, building, troubleshooting, and accelerating work, while the engineer remains responsible for guiding the work, testing outcomes, and ensuring solutions work reliably in practice. Reotemp has manufactured temperature and pressure instrumentation since 1965. It is a privately held company of around 150 employees, headquartered in San Diego, with a growing facility in Houston. This is a full-time, fully onsite role at the San Diego office; remote, hybrid, and work-from-home arrangements are not available. The salary range is $120,000–$150,000 per year.

Requirements

  • Experience independently taking work from an unclear business need through implementation and rollout, and explaining the problem, decisions, and how success was assessed.
  • Practical, creative problem-solving skills, including questioning assumptions, investigating underlying causes, and recognizing when process simplification is the best solution.
  • Understanding of how business processes, data, and connected systems fit together.
  • Comfort using AI to build and troubleshoot solutions, and validating them by testing workflows, checking data accuracy, and identifying unintended consequences.
  • Ability to take ownership and follow through until solutions work reliably in the business.
  • Existing effective use of AI tools, including providing context, testing assumptions, and verifying results.
  • Sound judgment when working at a fast pace with incomplete information; ability to break work into manageable changes and identify when deeper investigation is needed before release.
  • Interest in manufacturing, physical products, production processes, and the connection between software and work on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong listening, communication, collaboration, and follow-through skills, including the ability to explain decisions to nontechnical colleagues.
  • Willingness and ability to work fully onsite at the San Diego office; remote, hybrid, and work-from-home arrangements are not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or another operationally complex business.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP or CRM implementations and ongoing improvements.
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and data tools.
  • Experience with process mapping, Lean, or continuous improvement.
  • An analytical or technical degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in software development, business systems, or a related technical field is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business users and spend time on the manufacturing floor to understand how products, information, and decisions move through the company.
  • Translate vague frustrations, recurring workarounds, and disconnected processes into clearly defined problems.
  • Improve ERP, MRP, and CRM systems, including workflows, reports, dashboards, data models, and automations.
  • Use AI to build integrations, automations, and tools that eliminate duplicate work and connect systems.
  • Identify ways to simplify processes, reduce manual handoffs, and provide people with better information.
  • Deliver frequent improvements, check dependencies, and validate changes according to their impact on live operations.
  • Support users during rollouts, investigate unexpected behavior, and follow through until solutions work in practice.
  • Document solutions and help determine what work to tackle next.
  • Own the full solution journey: understand the problem, design and ship a solution, and verify that it improved the business.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Visible impact on how people across the company do their jobs.
  • Direct access to leadership and the people using the solutions.
  • Room to move good ideas quickly from conversation to working solution.
  • Variety across departments, business systems, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Opportunity to contribute at a stable, privately held manufacturer investing in its future.
