About The Position

The Digital Finishing Operator is responsible for efficiently and safely operating the slitter machine to cut to size accurate and quality labels. They check for quality while ensuring labels are cut straight and to exact measurements. A person in this role with exceptional performance will have the opportunity over time to learn more duties in the department and advance their skills. An ideal candidate is someone with a solid work ethic, good attendance, the ability to change pace and multitask, and a desire to grow their career with us!

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure all machine settings are correct and cuts are neat and accurate.
  • Strong intuition and problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively navigate issues.
  • Capable of working in a team environment and alone with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to stand and move around the work area for long periods of time.
  • Possess skills to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper personal protection equipment compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free.
  • Compliance with all workplace and safety standards required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect all printed rolls prior to processing, and verify all materials are present for the job.
  • Review rolls for quality and specifications, and remove defective material before running the job.
  • Adjust machine settings to specification, including speed, tension, splices per roll, etc.
  • Modify slit position, core sizes, and other components to produce an accurate and neat finished product.
  • Monitor the smooth operation of the slitting machine while accurately filling label quantities.
  • Mount and attach rolls properly to prevent defective production errors such as wrinkles.
  • Verify finished roll quality (tightness, quantity, neatness) to documented standards.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and cleanliness of the work area/production zone.
  • Related duties as assigned.
