About The Position

This role is for an exciting studio-based television show called Big [If True]!, focusing on debunking myths, unravelling conspiracies, and educating the public about misinformation and disinformation. The producer will be at the forefront of developing and producing content that sheds light on misinformation and disinformation and analyzes its impact on society. They will pitch, research, and write weekly segments, appear on camera, fact-check scripts, and find and interview experts. The ideal candidate is a dedicated journalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to promoting truth and critical thinking.

Requirements

  • Exceptional writing, interviewing, and communication skills.
  • Experience as a Chase Producer.
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in fact-checking and verifying sources.
  • Media literacy expertise and a deep understanding of misinformation and disinformation tactics.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • A deep-seated commitment to uncovering truth and exposing deception, coupled with a pursuit of journalistic integrity.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and software used in research and production.

Responsibilities

  • Research, pitch, produce, write, and collaborate on content in a variety of formats, such as text, video, and/or audio.
  • Create and select photos, graphics, video, and audio; create highly optimized content for TVO platforms.
  • Identify, book, and coordinate interviews with a diverse range of guests.
  • Prepare background notes and questions for studio and field interviews.
  • Fact-check information and verify sources to ensure accuracy.
  • Liaise with the Media Research Team, or others as appropriate, to ensure proper and accurate clearance of all material used.
  • Coordinate with other departments on matters relating to site content.
  • Perform on-camera as required.
  • Direct interviews in studio or in the field as required.
  • Propose, develop, and organize innovative approaches to generate content quickly in response to emerging issues.
  • Participate in community initiatives and partnerships to promote site and content, and attend external events as needed.
  • Direct the editing and mixing of audio and visual/graphic elements as required.
  • Collaborate with editors to design visually engaging reports.
  • Enforce strict adherence to production timelines, adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure a streamlined workflow across all aspects of production.
