Digital Media Intern (In-Person) Fall 2026)
About The Position
This is an in-person internship opportunity at WKRG-TV / wkrg.com in Mobile, AL, for Fall 2026. The internship is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in digital content creation, writing, search engine optimization, live streaming, and visual communication through graphic design for WKRG.com articles. The program aims to strengthen candidates for future full-time positions upon graduation. The internships are supervised, highly selective, and unpaid. Priority consideration will be given to students who must earn academic credit. Students are responsible for obtaining and completing any necessary forms for academic credit and for their own transportation. The station intern supervisor will work with interns to establish a work schedule based on their availability.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a major in journalism, social media, communication arts, digital marketing, or similar fields.
- Must have completed coursework and/or practical work in writing, with a basic understanding of AP style & standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
- Must be prepared to meet deadlines and participate nimbly and with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to obtain and complete any forms necessary to receive academic credit for the internship experience.
- Must be responsible for their own transportation.
- Must apply through the Nexstar Careers portal and email a resume and a short note explaining interest to the News Director.
- Must be available for a video conference interview.
- Must be available to begin internship on or after August 10, 2026, and complete by December 18, 2026.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with video editing using timeline-based software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
- Ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on a phone or camera.
