About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing, Digital Engagement and Brand Strategy (Associate Director), the Digital Media Coordinator supports the production, design, and ongoing evolution of the university’s digital presence with modern approaches to visual storytelling including photography and videography. This position supports the university’s strategic marketing and communications efforts through website content administration, user experience improvements, digital storytelling, and multimedia production. In consultation with the Associate Director, the Digital Media Coordinator works both independently and collaboratively to oversee website content, support digital campaigns, and create visual assets through photography and videography to enhance online engagement. The role is critical in promoting Sonoma State University to support student recruitment, retention, brand awareness, and community engagement. This position works closely with university leadership, faculty, staff, students, and external partners to maintain a dynamic, accurate, and accessible web presence that reflects institutional priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Marketing/Communications and Media Studies or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing and/or communications
  • Experience with photography and videography, including shooting, editing, and optimizing multimedia content for digital platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles
  • Strong proficiency with computers
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of Google Suite
  • Knowledge of web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, or similar software)
  • Basic HTML/CSS
