About The Position
The intern will join the Data & Analytics team, contributing to the growth and scalability of enterprise data platforms. This opportunity provides hands-on experience with platform engineering, Python software development, Apache Spark, distributed computing, and the infrastructure that supports analytics and artificial intelligence solutions.
Requirements
- Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
- Familiarity with Apache Spark, big data platforms, or distributed computing concepts.

Responsibilities
- Support development and enhancement of scalable data and AI platform capabilities.
- Contribute to software engineering activities using Python.
- Assist with platform growth, performance, reliability, and operational improvement needs.
- Work with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts in support of data workloads.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation activities.
- Collaborate with platform engineers and partner teams to understand technical requirements.
- Research tools, patterns, and practices that support platform scalability.
- Document technical solutions, workflows, and project outcomes.
