About The Position

The intern will join the Data & Analytics team, contributing to the growth and scalability of enterprise data platforms. This opportunity provides hands-on experience with platform engineering, Python software development, Apache Spark, distributed computing, and the infrastructure that supports analytics and artificial intelligence solutions.

Requirements

  • Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

  • Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
  • Familiarity with Apache Spark, big data platforms, or distributed computing concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and enhancement of scalable data and AI platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to software engineering activities using Python.
  • Assist with platform growth, performance, reliability, and operational improvement needs.
  • Work with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts in support of data workloads.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers and partner teams to understand technical requirements.
  • Research tools, patterns, and practices that support platform scalability.
  • Document technical solutions, workflows, and project outcomes.
