About The Position

Samsung Research America's Digital Health Algorithms Team collaborates with universities, hospitals, and healthcare partners to develop novel AI/ML algorithms for transforming healthcare delivery. Utilizing design thinking, the team addresses challenges in improving care, enhancing outcomes, reducing costs, and expanding access. Focusing on wearable, mobile, and cloud-based solutions, the multi-disciplinary team creates innovative technologies for commercial products supporting clinicians, patients, and consumers. They employ advanced sensor technology and an AI/ML framework to build algorithms for digital biomarkers and interventions, using data analytics to supplement clinical care and facilitate remote patient monitoring. Their work has resulted in over 70 peer-reviewed publications and 10 design awards, with algorithmic solutions aiding in the monitoring and management of serious and chronic health conditions. The team's scope covers the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to market-ready product delivery and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or related areas
  • Solid coding skills with prototyping experience in AI model development, data science, and machine learning
  • Experience in physiological signal processing, large-scale time-series data analytics in digital health domain
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing AI/ML foundation models and their finetuning approaches
  • Programming using languages such as Python, R, C/C++, Java, Android
  • Experience with cloud infra services like AWS, SageMaker Studio, GCP, SQL, and collaboration tools like github
  • Good communication/presentation skills and teamwork/collaboration spirit
  • Publication in top-tier journals and conferences

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel and disruptive algorithms for digital health services and solutions.
  • Design, implement, and optimize advanced AI models, including self-supervised learning, for health applications.
  • Work with large-scale time-series datasets to train and fine-tune ML/DL models using AWS AI services, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of novel AI methodologies to address complex healthcare challenges.
