About The Position

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with digital electronics design and analysis skills to join the Computing Products Department within the Displays, Controls, Computing & Networking Directorate. This department is responsible for the development and sustainment of state-of-the-art avionics hardware products including ruggedized mission computers, video processing modules, and network products used in commercial and military aircraft platforms. This role is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role supports all phases of the hardware development lifecycle—design, integration, verification, and factory transition. The Digital Hardware Design Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Systems, Software, Mechanical, Environmental Effects, and Manufacturing/Operations teams, to ensure all product requirements are successfully achieved. Competence in high-speed digital circuit board design, testability, and thermal management is essential.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience
  • Less than two (2) years of engineering digital circuit design experience
  • Familiarity with the development and design of electronic circuit designs, and/or multi-assembly system/unit design
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Capable of effectively collaborating with team members and independently managing assigned tasks
  • Familiarity with taking design concepts from block diagrams or requirements to developing complete hardware designs, including verification through testing and integration
  • Experience with design tools (schematic capture) and PCB design process to analyze and simulate designs prior to hardware implementation
  • Experience using PCB electronic circuit design software: signal integrity, power integrity and analog simulation

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, simulate and test Circuit Card Assemblies for Avionics Computers (Processors, FPGAs, Memory, high-speed interfaces)
  • Operate lab equipment to perform integration testing on hardware designs
  • Schematic capture of digital/analog mixed signal electrical circuit designs
