About The Position

Steampunk is seeking a Digital Forensics Analyst to join an innovative, creative, and energetic team supporting a government client. The analyst will work in a dynamic lab providing support for law enforcement efforts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, interested in the latest technology, with a proven ability to learn quickly and apply training to solve real-world engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in digital forensics OR Associate's Degree, with a preference of Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.
  • 3 days a week onsite required, potential travel as needed.
  • Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team.
  • Computer forensics training experience.
  • Ability to research and resolve problems efficiently and accurately.
  • Documentation skills, including forensics note keeping, reports, and case management.
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues, developing solutions, and providing investigation updates to investigators and management.

  • Ability to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Experience working in law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Support data collection: Securely seizing, imaging, and extraction digital devices for the purpose of preserving evidence.
  • Provides on-scene digital forensics support and assistance during the execution of search warrants.
  • Perform acquisitions and examinations using forensic tools.
  • Using specialized tools (e.g., Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics) to examine data, including but not limited to deleted files, emails, passwords, and multimedia.
  • Supports investigations and work closely with investigators, other law enforcement organizations, and attorneys in investigating allegations of criminal and administrative misconduct.
  • Transform complex digital evidence into clear, actionable findings that help investigators make informed decisions.
  • Document forensic methodologies, investigative findings, and technical conclusions in detailed reports for investigated purpose and legal proceedings.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on technical matters relating to digital evidence.
  • Testify in court as an expert witness in the area of digital forensics.
  • Maintaining forensic equipment and tools.
  • Ensure forensic processes comply with legal, regulatory, and evidentiary standards.
