About The Position

The Data Retrieval, Engineering, Architecture, and Management (DREAM) Group at Draper is seeking a Digital Engineering Data Solutions Architect to develop next generation Relational Cross Domain Data Digital Engineering Architecture for domains such as: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. Our multi-disciplinary teams innovate and develop solutions for full system development lifecycle in areas of importance for national security. Draper has adopted an integrated, model-driven digital mindset in solving Systems Engineering problems spanning the entire lifecycle. From early-lifecycle conceptual system design and architecture, detailed modeling, model-driven customer reviews, verification and validation, integration and testing, to deployment, surveillance and performance monitoring, Draper has a suite of Digital Engineering solution needs across our projects. Our thinking spans the entire gamut, from “as-designed” to “as-deployed” lifecycle phases in supporting uncompromised delivery of solutions. For this role, the ideal candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team. The candidate will support the development of digital capabilities like digital twins and digital threads, working closely with experienced engineers to learn and apply best practices. This role provides a foundation for growing expertise in data architecture, systems engineering, and advanced computing, with opportunities to contribute to innovative solutions. Communications and interpersonal skills are highly valued in this role. The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders of all relevant disciplines is a must.   • Knowledge and interest in interdisciplinary work spanning Systems Engineering, Model based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Trade Space Exploration (TSE), Machine Learning and Data Science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or other relevant Engineering field.
  • Requires 3-5 years experience in systems analysis or related.
  • Experience in use of MBSE tools such as SysML, knowledge in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience in integrating descriptive modeling tools with other simulation tools.

Nice To Haves

  • An M.S. degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Knowledge and interest in interdisciplinary work spanning Systems Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Science.
  • Experience with relational Ontologies, APIs, designing schemas for workflows
  • Experience with various types of data, data states, frequency, volume
  • Experience in managing data from interdisciplinary and various program protection levels
  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis approaches for a particular problem and independently execute assignments.
  • Independently execute system engineering lifecycle assignments; concept and architecture design, integration, testing and operation.
  • Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance
  • Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership
  • Contribute to the updates of best practices and processes to reflect the most up to date tools and procedures.
  • Work in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment including stakeholders and external partners.
  • Contribute to translation of requirements into technical and architectural decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
