Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person events that empower kids to discover books for themselves. Taking place in schools and rooted in Scholastic’s greater mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids, Fairs bring entire communities together. We bring “the best school day of the year” to kids in 110,000 unique in-school pop-ups that irresistibly defy expectations of how one must act in a library (running and screaming are welcome responses). We’re here to deliver an experience that inspires kids toward greatness. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with beloved IP (like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Captain Underpants, Bad Guys) and research, explore and discuss the most exciting trends in culture, kids, and literacy. Under the direction of the Digital Art Director and in collaboration with cross-functional partners, the Digital Designer will be responsible for bringing the Scholastic Book Fairs brand to life through the design of digital collateral. As part of our creative team, you will play a pivotal role in elevating our brand’s digital presence, ensuring that every touchpoint—whether an email campaign, a landing page, or a promotional asset—speaks to our audience’s needs and sparks curiosity in the next generation of readers.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage and create files for digital execution
  • Deep understanding of digital standards, fundamentals, and best practices, including ADA compliance
  • Knowledge of digital deliverables, specs, file types, and delivery methods
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and design skills
  • Ability to take ownership of creative campaigns from concept through execution
  • Flexible, professional, positive attitude with a detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a small, but mighty team
  • Ability to anticipate feedback, take direction, and implement notes
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams
  • Extreme proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Knowledge of motion graphics/ability to animate and create GIFs
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience in a creative design role
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing emails/digital specific content

  • Knowledge of HTML not required, but a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Help support creative solutions in the digital design space in order to support company initiatives and goals
  • Take creative ownership of digital campaigns, and mentor junior team members
  • Partner with internal marketing, editorial, and design teams to deliver projects across digital media
  • Collaborate with Editorial and Marketing Strategy teams on overall email strategy
  • Build branded email designs & templates, including journey campaigns, prospecting, seasonal, promotional, and automated emails
  • Design email layouts that lead to higher levels of engagement and increased click-through & conversion rates, as well as sales growth where possible
  • Design landing pages and website assets
  • Create, edit, and retouch photo files for digital design projects
  • Contribute to video graphics, inclusive of light animation and title cards, for use across all digital platforms
  • Concept and provide creative support for Paid social marketing
  • Collaborate with developers/builders to ensure designs are optimized for seamless user experience and fast load times
  • Ensure that digital assets are aligned with brand guidelines, tone, and messaging
  • Ensure keen attention to detail on all assets created
  • Keep up with emerging trends, industry standards, and best practices
  • Maintain organization of creative files
