About The Position

The Academic Development Branch, Education Delivery Division, Department of Education, United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) is seeking a Digital Designer. This role involves creating visually compelling digital assets for marketing, instructional, and promotional purposes, including digital signage, email campaigns, websites, and presentations. The designer will collaborate with copywriters, photographers, and videographers to ensure visual designs align with messaging and optimize layouts for attention, clarity, and communication effectiveness. The position requires adapting designs for multiple formats such as web, mobile, print, and signage. Additionally, the designer will participate in and support other projects within their skill sets, which may include writing continuity documents, attending or presenting at local eLearning symposiums, defining capabilities for potential customers, collaborating with local colleges or multi-service partners, and supporting other USAFSAM special projects. The role also involves supporting, evaluating, consulting, and managing all educational technology as directed by the Government representative.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in graphic design, Digital Media, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in digital design.
  • Proficient with Adobe programs, including Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Captivate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Possess organizational skills, ability to achieve set goals; initiative in performing assigned tasks; ability to follow up complex projects with influence, and integrity; and ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.
  • Basic knowledge of video editing or motion graphics (for animated signage or marketing content).
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Ability to obtain a Tier 1 Background Investigation – National Agency Check with Law and Credit Check, and fingerprints. (Standard Form 85).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Department of Defense branding and communication policies (ex. Tongue and Quill).
  • Experience working in the military setting, understanding of rank structure, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience designing for digital signage (understanding screen ratios, motion graphics, and optimal content duration).
  • Knowledge of layout principles, color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Expertise in Office 365 tools (ex. MS Windows, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, MS Teams, MS Planner, MS Power BI, Microsoft Forms).
  • Familiarity with web-based design tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the inventory and maintenance of audiovisual/computer-related equipment as directed by the Government representative.
  • Assist with the ordering, storing, coding/entering inventory into the database, and disposing of all audiovisual/computer-related equipment as directed by the Government representative.
  • Provide digital design consultation to members and programs as directed by the government representative.
  • Assist subject-matter experts and/or an instructional designer to convey a specific message to a targeted audience through a visual medium by building quality graphics for marketing.
  • Provide consultative support to subject-matter experts and/or instructional designers desiring to develop their own graphics/content.
  • Create, design, and produce graphics and other multimedia content, as well as provide consultation to subject-matter experts and/or an instructional designer using traditional tools and equipment, as well as specialty equipment and software in support of USAFSAM courseware and course materials.
  • Create visually compelling digital assets for marketing, instructional, and promotional purposes (e.g., digital signage, email campaigns, websites, presentations).
  • Work with copywriters, photographers, and videographers to align visual designs with messaging.
  • Optimize layouts for attention, clarity, and communication effectiveness.
