Digital Content Specialist

Church Of The ResurrectionLeawood, KS
Onsite

About The Position

Resurrection has an opening for a Digital Content Specialist in our Resurrection Experience division! The position is full-time, exempt, ministerial and is located at the Leawood campus at 13720 Roe Ave. The Digital Content Specialist creates marketing and engagement content that helps non-religious and nominally religious people find community, encounter Jesus and become deeply committed Christians. The Digital Content Specialist also strengthens the small group and discipleship experience for those already involved in the life of Resurrection. This position combines daily devotional writing, small group content, and digital-first evangelism content into a single role focused on tools to help congregants grow spiritually and (GPS, small group guides) outreach tools to connect people into the Resurrection community.

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing and executing digital media strategy across multiple platforms.
  • Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience managing social media accounts, including content scheduling, audience engagement, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to create simple branded graphics (e.g., social media posts, small group guide covers) using design tools such as Canva.
  • Comfortable with basic video editing tasks such as trimming and adding captions, using any standard editing tool.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, coordinating across internal teams and outside vendors as needed.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and alignment with, Wesleyan/United Methodist theology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop weekly small group guides based on each week’s sermon.
  • Curate the daily GPS devotional, evolving its format to reach new and younger readers.
  • Ensure daily GPS devotional and small group guides are aligned and complement each other.
  • Develop fresh, engaging content specifically targeting non-religious people who do not currently attend Resurrection.
  • Repurpose existing ministry and program content for a digital-first, non-religious audience.
  • Create original digital-first content, where none currently exists, to engage Resurrection’s congregation.
  • Work with the Digital Media Team Director and Director of Marketing and Digital Media to develop and manage the top-of-funnel strategy, using content to introduce people to Resurrection’s message and values and guide them toward worshiping with us online.
  • Coordinate and execute the full scope of Resurrection Anywhere, including project management, content curation, content creation, and digital media strategy support.
  • Coordinate with internal ministry teams and external vendors as needed.
  • Collaborate with ministries and programs to support content development and distribution for their online and in-person classes, Bible studies, and events.
  • Serve as a content resource across teams, ensuring ministry-level needs are met without pulling focus from GPS or Resurrection Anywhere priorities.
  • Provide spiritual leadership through content that helps readers grow in their relationship with Christ, looking for opportunities to disciple and encourage others through the written word.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the theology of the United Methodist Church and ensure all content aligns with and reflects this theology.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Jesus and engage in the “five essential practices” of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.
  • Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.”
  • Exemplify the church’s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.
