The Digital Content Assistant will be involved with updating and evolving content on prospective student-facing webpages across richmond.edu, with a particular focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and website accessibility. These efforts will help the university market the University of Richmond brand to prospective students. Primary duties will be to optimize existing content by adding page description metadata to key webpages, as well as fixing broken links, correcting spelling errors, and fixing other HTML errors. Students will learn to navigate and edit webpages using our content management system and our accessibility monitoring tool. Additional responsibilities may include creating new content, such as writing blog posts, to optimize the readability of richmond.edu by AI chatbots, providing creative input on new page designs, and assisting with image curation using our asset management system. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with best practices in web content management and creation, while staying up-to-date on emerging digital marketing techniques. The student must be reliable, collaborative, and establish a work schedule. Assignments will have deadlines that are expected to be met. Hours are to be conducted primarily in-person on campus, with remote work a possibility. All work, conversation, or materials within University Communications are to be treated as confidential.
