About The Position

Brock University is seeking multiple Digital Content Assistants to contribute to its social media presence. Working closely with the Social Media Manager and Video Communication and Production Specialist, the role involves content planning and creation specifically for the student audience. The Digital Content Assistant will research, present, and implement new methods for engaging students online, creating content that promotes school spirit, inclusivity, accessibility, and supports recruitment goals. The successful candidate may also collaborate with University Marketing and Communications on special projects.

Requirements

  • Experience with various social media channels, including TikTok and Instagram.
  • Comfortable in front of a camera and being featured on Brock's social media channels.
  • Experience and familiarity with Brock University campus life.
  • Knowledge of Brock University student services and activities.
  • Experience shooting and editing video content for social media.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow brand and accessibility guidelines as required and where appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Social media marketing experience.
  • Experience in personal branding, projecting in front of the camera, and influencing other students online.
  • Campaign planning, photography, videography, and multimedia design skills.
  • Experience working with and supporting an institutional brand and image.

Responsibilities

  • Propose and create engaging, student-focused content for Brock University's social media channels.
  • Brainstorm creative ideas, research social media trends, and identify opportunities to connect with the student community online.
  • Create digital content that reflects the Brock experience and plan the implementation of digital content/programming across social media channels.
  • Attend Brock University events and activities to capture authentic photo and/or video content showcasing the student experience.
  • Document campus life, academic and BUSU events, and traditions.
  • Create dynamic social media content weekly, including short videos.
  • Engage in script writing, storyboarding, production, and digital video editing using platforms such as Edits by Instagram, CapCut, or Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Produce high-quality content optimized for various social media platforms.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in social media content creation.
