About The Position

Amentum is seeking an electrical engineer focused on digital components for their Digital Integrated Circuits Component Engineer role. This position is responsible for the life cycle of strategic electronic components, requiring planning, development, education, and growth in the area of digital ICs. The engineer will collaborate with Program Offices, Prime Contractors, Designers, and other agencies such as DLA, Part Manufacturers, and Test Labs. Expertise includes application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), programmable logic devices such as field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), microprocessors, memory, and others. The role involves supporting manufacturing processes, design applications and limitations, electrical test methods, radiation effects, failure analysis, material analysis, military specifications, and program requirements. The Digital Component Engineer will be a team member providing direct support for parts issues across component test and evaluation, failure/material analysis, and radiation effects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field preferably in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
  • Digital Component Engineering experience with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts
  • Knowledgeable or willingness to learn best design practices for IEEE parts
  • Basic understanding of military industry standards (MIL-STD)
  • Understand the different standards in regards to the type of part and has the ability to analyze the differences
  • Ability to communicate ideas to customers, program office, colleagues, and contractors
  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn more complex functions
  • Ability to write technical reports
  • Understanding of basic electrical testing of IEEE parts
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Digital Component Engineer with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts with a focus on Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), Hybrid Microcircuits, or Memory Devices.
  • Knowledgeable on best design practices for IEEE parts with a focus on IC’s including manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of the differences between military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel: Formula integration, Macros, etc.
  • Strong understanding of electrical testing of IEEE parts with the ability to perform basic electrical benchtop testing

  • Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide digital component engineering support to the technologist team, to include writing technical reports
  • Advise military programs and designers on part selection
  • Troubleshoot digital component issues and recommend solutions
  • Understand electrical test methods and techniques, radiations effects, failure analysis tools and techniques, material analysis tools and techniques
  • Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs, and other government agencies
  • Develop and review test plan documentation
  • Provide complete life-cycle support of strategic systems
