As a Component Engineer, you'll work on projects involving: Large mechanical assemblies Pressure boundary components Custom-engineered repair solutions Heavy rigging and lifting applications Structural modifications Precision fabrication and machining Nuclear plant outage execution Next-generation reactor technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Advanced Reactors (ARs) You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, build specialized technical expertise, and contribute to projects that support one of the most highly engineered industries in the world. Solve a range of straightforward problems, analyze solutions and assess each using standard procedures. Ensure compliance with government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff. Independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications for tasks previously performed. Continues to develop knowledge of organization, processes and customers. Works on special projects, as directed. Provides suggestions for improving processes and implementing process improvements. Maintain a safety mindset. Support engineering projects involving repair and replacement of mechanical and structural components used in commercial nuclear power plants. Develop technical evaluations and design documentation. Prepare design drawings, assembly drawings, installation packages, and technical reports. Assist in developing engineering work packages for plant outages and field implementation. Learn and apply ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements, and applicable ASTM material specifications Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary project meetings. Support manufacturing and fabrication by responding to technical questions and resolving fabrication issues. Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, designers, quality personnel, manufacturing, and field services to deliver successful projects. Perform engineering evaluations of existing plant equipment and recommend repair or replacement solutions. Support field activities during outage installations as required. Continuously develop technical knowledge through formal training, mentorship, and project experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Dependent on the position, degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology and Engineering Science may also be accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
  • Good communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.
  • Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills.
  • Component/Structural Design including demonstrated ability to take products from drawing creation through delivery to the customer
  • Preparation of technical documents (specifications, operating procedures, etc.)
  • Experience working on commercial, DOE, or DOD nuclear projects.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASTM standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites and nuclear power plants.
