About The Position

The Baltimore City Comptroller’s Office is seeking a highly qualified Multimedia Communications Associate to join our team. This entry-level role supports the Office of the Comptroller through photography, digital content production, and administrative coordination. The Associate will support and document events, produce visual content for social media and public communication, and support internal multimedia needs. This position plays a key role in organizing digital assets, set up and maintenance of digital communications equipment, and assists with execution of outreach and community-facing initiatives. The Office of the Comptroller consists of five (5) departments plus Executive Direction & Control (approximately 110 employees). We are challenge ourselves to meet performance improvement goals just as we ask of all City offices and agencies. We continue to modernize systems with a focus on continuous improvements that will support and increase transparency, information accessibility, government accountability and efficiency. This position reports to the Director of Communications and works closely with the Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff as well as other departments of the Comptroller as assigned. This position works a conventional work week but will be required to work evening and weekend hours from time to time to fulfill all duties of the role. Work is performed in an office where work conditions are normal and require minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in information systems, computer science or a related field.
  • Five years of demonstrated experience in photography, graphic design and digital media.
  • Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and be eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including fluency in use of the English language
  • Working knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data.
  • Working knowledge of standard analytical principles and techniques.
  • Ability to organize data for the preparation and presentation of reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
  • Ability to distill and explain complex information to communicate the office’s purpose, programs, and operations.
  • Ability to collect, compile, edit, classify, and tabulate statistical and qualitative data.
  • Ability to prepare and present ideas and information clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in filming, recording, and editing video and audio content for public service announcements, trainings, and social media.
  • Serves as staff photographer for the agency, capturing high-quality images at press events, community meetings, and internal functions.
  • Supports the setup and breakdown of multimedia equipment such as cameras, teleprompters, microphones, tripods, lights, and livestreaming tools.
  • Edits basic media content using digital tools (e.g., Canva, Kapwing, or Adobe Express) with guidance from senior staff.
  • Prepares and organizes scripts, captions, and metadata for multimedia projects.
  • Maintains digital files, archives, and equipment inventories.
  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics for photo shoots, events, etc.
  • Supports the Communications Director with social media monitoring, content posting, and tracking metrics.
  • Learns and applies agency branding, accessibility, and style guidelines in content development.
  • Provides general administrative support for multimedia and communications activities, such as filing, note-taking, and materials, report and presentation preparation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
