About The Position

NewsNation is a national media outlet serving audiences across all 50 states and providing a national cable channel alongside a digital presence. The Digital Associate Producer will create digital-friendly journalism with the Special Projects team and will be based in the Chicago newsroom. The role supports planning and execution of special projects, maintains NewsNation's digital platforms with breaking and topical news, packages and promotes content for audience engagement, edits content for a national audience, and clips broadcast segments for digital and social channels.

Requirements

Experience working with video and social media.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, or marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Early morning, late night, weekend, and/or holiday shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and executing special projects, including stories and social posts scheduled for future dates or published alongside breaking news.
Update NewsNation digital platforms—including the website, app, email, and social media—with breaking news and topical news of the day.
Write compelling headlines, teases, and social media posts that encourage audiences to engage with NewsNation journalism.
Package content to encourage audience engagement, longer page visits, and more pages viewed per visit.
Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience.
Clip broadcast segments for publication across digital platforms and social media channels.
Use SEO best practices.
