About The Position

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is undergoing a transformation to expand its influence and further its safety mission by becoming increasingly digital and global. To support this vision, NFPA is seeking a Digital Archivist to join the Research team. This role is crucial for managing and preserving digital assets, ensuring the quality and accessibility of information that helps save lives and reduce loss from fire, electrical, and related hazards.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLS) or currently enrolled in an MLS program with relevant work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in digital asset management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Preservica is desired.
  • High degree of experience with other archival Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) will be considered.
  • Exposure to Metadata Schemas such as METS, DC, MODS, EAD, CDWAlite, PREMIS, EDM, MARCXML, EAC-CPF.
  • Exposure to Description Standards such as DACS, MARC, DDC, LOC, RDA.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Associate Level Preservica Manager, responsible for ingesting and managing assets within the platform, with the expectation of becoming an expert in the future.
  • Perform auditing and quality control of content described for Preservica to ensure uniformity and quality across the platform.
  • Triage collections for digital preservation and define metadata needs specific to each collection, aiming for streamlined processes.
  • Assist with customer support for staff, committee members, and the public.
