About The Position

The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) Division is the Government of Alberta’s centre of digital delivery. The division partners with ministries to design simpler, faster, and better services; build confidence and capability in modern digital practice; and ensure service quality and value through clear standards and controls. The Product Branch within DDD is accountable for partnering with ministry programs to frame problems and deliver evidence-based solutions through the design and delivery of technology and services.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a related field, supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible, related experience.
  • Experience in software development, engineering, or architecture, including as a Digital, Solution, or Enterprise Architect, with a focus on digital transformation and AI integration.
  • Experience designing complex digital platforms incorporating AI/ML capabilities, such as automation, personalization, predictive analytics, or generative AI.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including AI/ML services and modern application architectures.
  • Experience with integration patterns, DevOps, CI/CD, or MLOps practices.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and cybersecurity principles, including AI and data security.
  • Experience delivering digital services in agile, product-oriented environments and familiarity with languages such as Python, Java, .NET, or Node.js.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud, and Agile certifications.
  • A fundamental understanding of AI/ML concepts, model lifecycle management, and common algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the enterprise digital and AI architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Design scalable end-to-end digital solutions integrating AI/ML, data, applications, and enterprise systems.
  • Establish and govern architecture standards, security requirements, and responsible AI practices.
  • Lead technology, platform, and vendor evaluations, including AI/ML solutions and proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams, enabling successful AI-driven project outcomes.
  • Govern enterprise integration and architecture decisions to reduce technical debt, risk, and operational complexity.
  • Create and maintain architecture artifacts, including solution designs, data flows, blueprints, and decision records.
