About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Dietitian for a 26-week contract position in Rochester, NY. This role involves providing comprehensive nutritional care to patients by assessing their dietary needs, developing personalized nutrition plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support optimal patient outcomes. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for creating individualized nutrition care plans, providing patient education, and working closely with patients and medical teams to address food-related health concerns.

Requirements

  • Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and a minimum of 400 additional hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.
  • Must provide documentation of supervised dietetics practice hours, including supervisor details and qualifications if qualifying under NYSED certification.

  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and its impact on patient health, particularly in acute care settings.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with cultural and dietary restrictions.
  • Familiarity with computerized systems for tracking patient progress and managing meal plans.
  • Ability to provide remote on-call coverage as part of a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a system for documenting information in individual medical records, including diet history, food intake, caloric requirements, and nutrient needs.
  • Utilize appropriate computer support applications and maintain necessary databases to ensure appropriate care and service delivery.
  • Participate actively in the interdisciplinary treatment team, ensuring nutritional aspects are considered in patient care plans.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and staff, helping them understand the importance of balanced diets in managing specific health conditions.
  • Integrate cultural, religious, and ethnic preferences in meal planning and the delivery of nutrition care, ensuring culturally diverse patients feel respected and included.
  • Teach nutrition group classes as part of the work week and on a rotating weekend schedule.
  • Communicate and collaborate with medical providers regarding individualized nutrition needs for patients.
  • Monitor and assess patient food and fluid intake during meals, making necessary adjustments to nutrition plans.
  • Participate in relevant committees and task forces to improve nutrition services and policies.
  • Provide remote weekend on-call coverage on a rotating schedule to support patient nutrition needs outside regular hours.
