About The Position

The Registered Dietitian Specialist 1 is responsible for completing inpatient and/or outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments according to scheduled timeframes and implementing appropriate interventions to improve the nutritional outcome of patients. This role involves providing nutrition education to patients and family members, mentoring dietetic technicians, and acting as a clinical preceptor to dietetic students and/or other health care team members. Duties may be assigned in either the inpatient and/or clinic setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field required.
  • Certification from Commission on Dietetic registration (RD or RDN) required.
  • Entry level knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English.
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
  • Able to accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone.
  • Able to think critically.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to perform basic math functions.

  • Able to pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace/patient care.
  • Able to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.
  • Able to discern temperature variances through touch.
