The Dietitian Nutritionist will assess and monitor the nutritional status of patients/clients, adjusting nutritional care as indicated. This role involves providing medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling, including assessment and education, and developing, monitoring, and implementing MNT/counseling for patients/clients in assigned areas. The position requires completing consults and referrals, communicating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate nutrition into a total patient/client therapy program, and completing all required documentation in a timely and thorough manner. The Dietitian Nutritionist will also provide and assess the effectiveness of patient/client and family education, develop and utilize appropriate educational materials, and identify learning needs based on the learner's developmental and educational level. Additionally, the role involves providing periodic in-services on selected topics, teaching and disseminating nutrition research findings, and communicating with multidisciplinary departments on patient/client care and issues. Under guidance, the Dietitian Nutritionist will participate in basic skills orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns.
