About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking an advanced-practice inpatient dietitian for a high-acuity teaching hospital in Oakland, Pittsburgh. The position focuses on nutrition support, including working as part of the TPN Safety Team with a multidisciplinary group to write and monitor TPN orders. Outside of TPN team rotations, the dietitian works with dietitians and dietetic technicians to provide nutrition care to hospitalized adult patients, including patients in Transplant, Trauma, Cardiac, and Neurology services. The job title and salary are determined by career ladder requirements.

The schedule is 40 hours per week with a flexible start time and rotating weekends and holidays. The role includes direct patient care, nutrition assessment and care planning, nutrition diagnosis and malnutrition identification, service as a nutrition liaison for assigned units, participation in interdisciplinary work, mentoring and training, and leadership of an annual initiative or quality improvement activity.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics plus 4 years of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian, or a master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics plus 3 years of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian.
• Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN).
• Registered Dietitian (RD).
• Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC).
• Act 34 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using Medical Nutrition Therapy to assess patients and develop goals and a plan of care.
• Formulate nutrition diagnoses and identify malnutrition through Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and nationally established criteria.
• Serve as a nutrition liaison and expert to assigned units and participate in interdisciplinary committees and projects.
• Mentor and train dietetic students, interns, and new personnel.
• Lead at least one department-, facility-, or system-based initiative or quality improvement activity through completion each year.
• Work with the TPN Safety Team and a multidisciplinary team to write and monitor TPN orders.
