About The Position

Supervises the nutritional aspects of patient care. Provides nutrition education/counseling to both inpatients and outpatients. Coordinates clinical nutrition with food service operations for delivery of patient care. Prepares and oversees implementation of all therapeutic diets and approves the diet manual. Attests to the nutritional adequacy of all foods served. Additional services may include community group presentations, education and participation in health fairs. Review of electronic medical record may be done off site. Onsite service is required for outpatient consultations, nutrition staff meetings and occasionally as requested by clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited institution.
  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics registration.
  • State of Nevada Licensure.
  • Minimum 1-year healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to be available as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and interprets nutritional data necessary to recommend, prescribe, or modify therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
  • Ensures proper nutritional management of patients with specialized dietary needs or who are at moderate to high nutritional risk.
  • Teaches nutrition intervention principles to promote disease management and/or prevention.
  • Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care in the patient medical record.
  • Coordinates clinical nutrition with food service operations for delivery of patient care.

Benefits

  • 15% will be added to the hourly rate in lieu of benefits due to 'per diem' status.
