About The Position

The Dietetic Student Assistant works under the supervision of a registered dietitian, gaining practical experience with food service in a college setting. Assists in controlling the flow of accommodations for the summer Bama Bound sessions. Shares information with parents, visitors and students. Attends orientation events and dinners for parents/students.

Requirements

  • Current University of Alabama student.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
  • Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skill.
  • Quick learner.
  • Dependable.
  • Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters.
  • Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment.
  • Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
  • Final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Nice To Haves

  • Nutrition major with hands-on experience in Dining Services through structured academic rotation as part of a class project.
