About The Position

Under general supervision, the Dietary Worker performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food, and cleaning kitchen area and cooking utensils. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a medical environment.
  • Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers
  • May be exposed to mechanical/electrical/radiant/explosive/burn and chemical hazards
  • May be required to operate and clean equipment
  • May be required to work both indoor/outdoor under extreme temperatures
  • May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances
  • May be required to operate heavy vehicles
  • Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work
  • Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and use/viewing of a computer screen throughout the day.
  • Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans The Kitchen Area And Cooking Utensils
  • Operates Dishwasher To Ensure All Dishes And Utensils Are Clean
  • Carries Dishes And Foods Between Kitchen And Serving Lines
  • Washes And Cuts Vegetables And Fruits According To Procedures
  • Prepares Coffee And Urns For Food Service, Also Prepares, Loads, Transports, And Cleans Food Carts
  • Serves On Tray Assembly Line In Assigned Position
  • Maintains Department Equipment And Supplies
  • Maintains Department Records, Reports, And Files, As Required
  • Manager has verified receipt of clearance by New York State Department of Health/CHRC from Human Resources Department.
