About The Position

The Dietary Supervisor at The GreenFields is a key leader dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming dining experience for our residents while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and nutrition. This role partners closely with the Food Service Director and Registered Dietitian to craft thoughtfully planned menus, maintain budget excellence, and uphold strict food safety and regulatory standards. Beyond managing daily operations, staffing, and training, the Dietary Supervisor inspires and supports the dietary team, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and pride in service. With a hands-on leadership style and a passion for resident satisfaction, this position plays an essential role in enhancing comfort, dignity, and overall well-being through exceptional food service.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must have patience, tact a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents/associates.
  • Must be able to communicate with the staff, and other department supervisors.
  • Maintains a rapport with the residents and their families.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
  • High school diploma or food service degree preferred.
  • Must have one year of dietary experience in long-term care setting or in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all food presentation meet specifications for all diets and the commitment to quality.
  • Verifies that dietary personnel follow all recipes and portion servings correctly.
  • Provides professional leadership and direction to dietary personnel.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality service, food and beverage knowledge.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments and demonstrates flexibility.
  • Ensures staff competency through training, coaching and development.
  • Actively supervises, motivates and disciplines department employees.
  • Performs rounding of wings, nourishment rooms and main kitchen.
  • Monitors staff, food and equipment temperatures, food safety and sanitation guidelines and general condition/appearance of the department/wings.
  • Assists with and evaluates department employees.
  • Maintains residents in department computer system.
  • Correctly admits, discharges and maintains residents likes/dislikes.
  • Properly prepares and maintains production lists, meal tickets, nourishment labels, resident listings, short term menu boards, computer change logs and admission folders.
