About The Position

This position requires the ability to manage a team of 5 and cook for 150 people, understanding that we must feed patients 3x a day + snacks, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The role involves routine food preparation and delivery services of cold or hot foods in the facility. The Dietary Supervisor will direct the day-to-day tasks of other dietary department staff, perform routine tasks related to clean up and sanitation of the kitchen, dining, or serving areas, and properly prepare, serve, and store food in accordance with facility standards. This role ensures compliance with state or federal regulations, prepares foods according to standardized recipes and approved menus, and utilizes service methods and food handling techniques to ensure quality. The supervisor must understand and apply sanitation procedures for a safe and healthy environment, adhere to menu compliance and special diet compliance, and report any dietary non-compliance, concerns, or complaints of patients to the dietician, supervisor, or manager. Additionally, the supervisor will guide or direct staff in food preparation and service, assist in the orientation of new staff, and provide ongoing training for dietary staff. Other functions and tasks as assigned may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must have experience managing a kitchen and employees.
  • Must be able to cook for 150 people at a time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions, such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state, facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of US Foods and other ordering platforms is a plus.
  • ServSafe preferred.

Responsibilities
