About The Position

This position is responsible for setting up and restocking food items in various areas of the server line, including soup, salad, and dessert stations, ensuring proper portions, temperature, and appearance. The role involves serving food to customers, maintaining cleanliness during serving hours, and operating the cash register. Additionally, the Dietary Server will prepare patient trays according to dietary guidelines, restock food and non-food items, and deliver food trays courteously. Compliance with division policies, safety standards, and wearing appropriate attire are also key functions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with cafeteria and servery operations.
  • Ability to set up cafeteria lines and set tables for banquets.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills.
  • Knowledge of cafeteria style plating of food.
  • Inventory skills.
  • Ability to operate cash register accurately and without customer delays.
  • Ability to count drawer correctly at beginning and end of meal periods.
  • Understanding of different types of special diets ordered by dietician/staff.
  • Ability to make trays for patients according to portion control guidelines.
  • Ability to replenish units with the correct amounts of all food and non-food items assuring that adequate supply is always present based on inventory guidelines.
  • Demonstrates behavior that promotes positive customer relations with patients, staff and visitors.
  • Demonstrates practices that honor the patient’s confidentiality.
  • Follows patient rights at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and restock food items in the soup, salad, and dessert areas of the server line, assuring proper portions, temperature, and appearance.
  • Serve food to customers, portioning food according to portion control guidelines.
  • Replenish counters, salad bar, and hot food table, ensuring an adequate supply is always present.
  • Keep the hot food serving line, salad, dessert, and condiment areas clean and free of excess debris during serving hours.
  • Attend to food items at all times and remain on the serving line during hours of operation.
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness during serving hours, continuously cleaning and picking up items.
  • Serve food to patients, staff, and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrate behavior that promotes positive customer relations.
  • Demonstrate practices that honor patient confidentiality.
  • Follow patient rights at all times.
  • Operate cash register during lunch and evening meals, demonstrating accuracy and efficiency.
  • Count drawer correctly at the beginning and end of meal periods.
  • Set up and restock food items in the dessert areas, ensuring proper appearance and amount.
  • Replenish counters, salad bar, to-go utensils, foam cups, and other condiments as needed.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of computer skills, cafeteria-style plating, and inventory skills.
  • Print tray orders for delivery and pick-ups using computer skills.
  • Understand different types of special diets ordered by dieticians/staff.
  • Make trays for patients according to portion control guidelines.
  • Replenish units with the correct amounts of all food and non-food items based on inventory guidelines.
  • Deliver food trays to patients/staff in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Follow server duty sheet, tray line duty sheet, and cashier duty sheet accordingly.
  • Comply with division policies, procedures, and safety standards related to food service.
  • Wear food handler gloves and head cover when required.
  • Attend in-service training sessions as required.
  • Wear freshly laundered uniforms.
  • Wear a hair cover.
