About The Position

The Dietary Server is responsible for setting up and restocking food items in various areas of the server line, ensuring proper portions, temperature, and appearance. This role involves serving food to customers, maintaining cleanliness during serving hours, and operating the cash register. Additionally, the Dietary Server assists with tray assembly according to dietary orders and delivers food trays to patients and staff. Compliance with division policies, procedures, and safety standards, including wearing appropriate attire and attending training sessions, is essential.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computer skills.
  • Familiarity with cafeteria style plating of food.
  • Basic inventory skills.
  • Ability to operate cash register accurately and without customer delays.
  • Ability to count drawer correctly at beginning and end of meal periods.
  • Familiarity with cafeteria and servery operations.
  • Ability to set up cafeteria lines and set tables for banquets.
  • Wear freshly laundered uniforms.
  • Wear hair cover.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Professional Food Sanitation and Service certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and restock food items in the soup, salad, and dessert areas of the server line, assuring proper portions, temperature, and appearance.
  • Serve food to customers, portioning food according to portion control guidelines.
  • Replenish counters, salad bar, and hot food table, ensuring an adequate supply is always present.
  • Keep the hot food serving line, salad, dessert, and condiment areas clean and free of excess debris during serving hours.
  • Attend to food items at all times and do not leave the serving line during hours of operation.
  • Continuously clean and pick up as he/she works on the service counter or salad and vegetable bars.
  • Serve food to patients, staff, and visitors in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrate behavior that promotes positive customer relations with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate practices that honor patient confidentiality and follow patient rights at all times.
  • Operate the cash register during lunch and evening meals accurately and without customer delays.
  • Count the drawer correctly at the beginning and end of meal periods.
  • Set up and restock food items in the dessert areas, assuring proper appearance and amount of desserts.
  • Replenish counters, salad bar, to-go utensils, foam cups, and other condiments as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of computer skills by printing tray orders for delivery and pick-ups.
  • Understand different types of special diets ordered by the dietician/staff.
  • Make trays for patients according to portion control guidelines.
  • Replenish units with the correct amounts of all food and non-food items based on inventory guidelines.
  • Deliver food trays to patients/staff in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Follow server duty sheet, tray line duty sheet, and cashier duty sheet accordingly.
  • Comply with division policies, procedures, and safety standards related to food service.
  • Wear food handler gloves and head cover when required.
  • Attend in-service training sessions as required.
  • Wear freshly laundered uniforms.
  • Wear a hair cover.
