This role involves duties across dietary, housekeeping, and laundry services to ensure a comfortable, safe, and clean environment for residents.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties.
  • Good attendance record.

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily audit forms for dietary, housekeeping, and laundry.
  • Monitors and documents food and refrigeration temperatures.
  • Assembles residents’ trays for all meals and arranges place settings.
  • Prepares food for meals and snacks, including special diets and supplemental beverages.
  • Portions and serves meals to residents according to assigned diets.
  • Assists the cook with cooking procedures and serving when required.
  • Distributes dietary carts to and from designated areas.
  • Provides assistance at meal times by transporting residents and assisting with selections.
  • Disassembles food carts and trays; scrapes and pre-soaks dishes and utensils.
  • Cleans/washes dishes, pots, and pans; loads and unloads dishwasher, and stores cleaned items.
  • Assists with special functions, such as Meals on Wheels and holiday events.
  • Replenishes supplies for Wing lounges and kitchenettes.
  • Receives, rotates, and restocks food supplies and records inventory needs.
  • Cleans/sanitizes kitchen and dining room areas, surfaces, equipment, and floors.
  • Disposes of waste and delivers soiled linen to the laundry department.
  • Requisitions dietary cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Cleans residents’ rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Cleans floors by sweeping and scrubbing, using appropriate equipment.
  • Damp dusts and spot cleans all furniture.
  • Empties and cleans all waste paper baskets, and disposes of waste.
  • Changes drapes and bedside curtains as necessary.
  • Cleans accessible windows and sills.
  • Replenishes and requisitions housekeeping supplies such as soap, paper towel, toilet tissue, and gloves.
  • Carbolizes (disinfects and thoroughly cleans) rooms monthly and after resident discharge or death.
  • Cleans equipment such as commodes, wheelchairs, and mechanical lifts.
  • Disinfects and thoroughly cleans isolation rooms using proper procedures.
  • Completes assigned scheduled cleaning tasks.
  • Keeps all work areas and equipment clean and in good repair.
  • Reports and requisitions needed repairs, as well as damaged equipment and property.
  • Rearranges or transfers furniture and/or equipment as needed.
  • Provides assistance by transporting residents to activities and meals as required.
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains laundry equipment such as commercial and industrial washing/drying machines.
  • Collects soiled clothes and/or linens from designated areas and washes residents’ clothing and facility linen.
  • Sorts, weighs, loads into washing machines, and maintains records of laundry processed.
  • Pre-soaks stained items.
  • Loads drying machines according to proper procedures.
  • Unloads, sorts, folds, and stacks clean clothes/linens; inspects for stains and minor repairs.
  • Irons residents’ clothing and linens when necessary.
  • Prepares and delivers carts with residents’ clothing to their rooms and clean linens to designated areas.
  • Ensures all resident’s personal laundry is properly identified/labelled.
  • Cleans dryer filters and monitors/refills laundry chemicals.
  • Maintains laundry area in a clean, tidy, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Communicates with residents, team members, and families regarding laundry needs.
  • Prepares rags and distributes them to various departments.
  • Orders, receives stock, and maintains inventory of supplies for the laundry department.
  • Examines laundered slings, reporting any issues of concern.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Lakeview Manor’s philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizes facility resources economically and safely.
  • Develops and maintains good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality and respects privacy.
  • Participates in department meetings and attends in-service programs.
  • Maintains knowledge of and applies policies and procedures for Fire and Disaster Plan, Infection Control & Back in Form programs.
  • Practices all safety and sanitation rules and regulations, and observes personal hygiene.
  • Reports need for repairs to supervisor or Maintenance personnel.
  • Demonstrates safe use and care of supplies and assigned equipment.
  • Provides a comfortable, safe, and clean environment.
  • Adheres to WorkSafe NB Acts & Regulations.
  • Maintains professional and personal development through continuous education.
